Akinropo Omoware

He is a lawyer and development expert with over 12 years’ experience in project management and development work, specializing in promoting access to justice for all (especially the most vulnerable and marginalized groups), facilitating judicial reforms and improving business enabling environment and investment climate. Akinropo also specializes in gender mainstreaming, policy analysis and advocacy and recently, he has been working extensively on promoting alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and providing technical and advisory support for the establishment of multi-door courthouses and ADR centres in some states in Nigeria. His work in this area earned his organization (GIZ) an award of excellence at the 2018 ADR conference of the Institute of Chartered Mediation and Conciliation (ICMC).

He is passionate about ADR and has been working tirelessly to promote its use especially for resolving commercial disputes. He believes ADR is better suited for commercial disputes because of the need to preserve pre-dispute relationship in the management and settlement of commercial disputes. He has written many articles and information materials on ADR as better option for resolving commercial disputes.

He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) in Nigeria and a mediation trainer with the Mediation Training Institute (MTI) Abuja. He is also a member of the NBA Section on Business Law. Akinropo is currently working with Nigeria Competitiveness Project (NICOP), a project implemented by GIZ Nigeria, as Senior Advisor, Trade Policy and Business Enabling Environment.
